About
Hannah M. Rea, Ph.D. is a tenure-track assistant professor and licensed clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychology at West Virginia University.
Dr. Rea completed her postdoctoral research at the University of Washington in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department. She completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the University of California, Davis MIND Institute and CAARE Center. She graduated with a doctorate in clinical psychology in December 2020 from the University of Georgia. Dr. Rea completed her undergraduate training at Emory University.

Research Interests
Dr. Rea’s research focuses on challenging behaviors in youth with Down syndrome and/or other neurodevelopment disorders (e.g., autism). She is particularly interested in:
- How problem-solving and emotion regulation impact the development and treatment of challenging behaviors
- How we conduct assessments and interventions with families of youth with Down syndrome and other neurodevelopment disorders.
Dr. Rea’s lab utilizes a variety of approaches to consider children and their families. These approaches include questionnaires, neuropsychological assessments, and electroencephalogram (EEG) to understand individuals at multiple levels.
