Overview

Become a CLM Certified Instructor

The Competent Learner Model (CLM) is an educational framework designed to enhance learning outcomes, especially for students with learning and behavioral challenges. Our badges integrate positive teaching approaches based on evidence-based principles of applied behavior analysis, precision teaching, and Direct Instruction.

This 4 badge/course sequence is appropriate for students or professionals working in the fields of education or human services who are interested in becoming a Certified CLM Instructor. Learners start in the CLM Foundations badge and progress through the other badges to earn the entire stack. Working through the badge requires about 4-6 hours per week. Most of the work is asynchronous, but there are every-other-week online seminar meetings with required attendance. Additionally, you will need access to a student learner with whom you can practice CLM techniques, must obtain consent to record yourself working with the student, and upload recordings for feedback. You will meet weekly with a CLM coach for mentoring and performance checks.

Competent Learner Model: Play, Learn, Achieve

Designed for Education Professionals:

The CLM badges are designed for a wide array of education professionals, including teachers, administrators, support staff, and related professions (OT, PT, speech, BCBA).

Sequential Learning:

The badges must be earned in sequence, starting with CLM Foundations.

Online Modules With Personal Coaching:

You can expect to spend 4-6 hours per week on the variety of learning and application activities provided and will need to have access to a learner with whom you can practice CLM techniques.  The programs are online with both asynchronous and synchronous meeting requirements. To get more information about synchronous meeting schedules, contact Dr. Scutta at cscutta@clmcenterofexcellence.com

Earn CLM Certification:

CLM Certification gives you the tools and methods you need to reach and teach all students. Coaches, teachers, students, and parents all love it. Certified CLM instructors are never alone! CLM has a supportive community of users to help you succeed with every learner!

CLM Center of Excellence and WVU are pleased to establish this partnership through a generous gift made by Vicci Tucci through Tucci Learning Solutions, Inc.  Vicci Tucci is a West Virginia native and undergraduate alumna of the WVU Psychology Department.

Throughout her career, Vicci’s legacy was in giving back and making the world a better place for all who inhabit it. Her belief in the change CLM could make for West Virginians was underscored when she moved back to West Virginia. Her hope, and ours, was to reform education so that all learners can succeed.

Andy has basically done a 180.... he is just like a different kid, interacting positively, making meaningful communication. He has been doing phenomenally. And if we didn't have teachers like you, Andrew wouldn't have made this progress.
