WVU neuroscience students pioneer new frontiers in undergraduate research
As Jayla Boyd and Lillian Floyd would describe it, they were in uncharted territory when they arrived on the West Virginia University campus for Brain Camp. By the end of the week, the soon-to-be high school seniors had discovered the complex world of neuroscience and were hooked.

Students from across Eberly have been named Outstanding Seniors, Outstanding GTAs and Eberly Scholars
Every year, students from across Eberly College are selected
as Outstanding Seniors and Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistants. Eberly Scholars are also
chosen annually for a monetary award to help offset the cost of their education
as they work to achieve their academic goals. Read about all three groups below.

Five exceptionally talented incoming West Virginia University freshmen whose academic interests span the fields of humanities, medicine and science are eager to use their curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills to generate new ideas and innovative solutions for a better future as the 2024-25 WVU Foundation Scholars, the highest academic scholarship the University awards.

The campaign for West Virginia University student body president and vice president ended Wednesday evening (March 6) as the Student Government Association Judicial Court certified Charlie Long and Abigail Browning as president and vice president, respectively, for the 2024-25 academic year.

WVU research reveals possible link between teen personalities, social media preferences and depressive symptoms
Amy Gentzler, professor of psychology at the WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, as well as graduate students Jacob Alderson, Jeff Hughes and Matty Johnston, published an article from a National Institutes of Health-funded study on how teens use social media and how specific platforms relate to depressive symptoms. They considered attributes like gender, personality and self-esteem.

Each year, Eberly College honors faculty members with its Outstanding Teacher Awards, Outstanding Researcher Awards and the Award for Outstanding Outreach or Public Service. Recipients in each category receive a stipend to help further their research, teaching and service efforts.

Eberly students receive Gilman Scholarships to study abroad
Twenty undergraduate students from across the University received the competitive national award funded by the U.S. State Department to travel abroad without financial constraints. Twelve of those 20 students are studying in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences.
