Barry Edelstein, Ph.D.

Eberly Professor, Clinical Psychology


Professor Edelstein received his Ph.D. in psychology in 1975 from the University of Memphis. He joined the WVU faculty in 1974 as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1978 and to Professor in 1985. Professor Edelstein was appointed Eberly Distinguished Professor of Clinical Psychology in 2001.

Research Interests

Dr. Edelstein is a clinical geropsychologist whose current research and other scholarly activity focuses on older adult anxiety, older adult emotion regulation, the development of older adult assessment instruments, and older adult decision-making capacity (competence).

Dr. Edelstein will not be accepting graduate students for work with him in the 2018-2019 academic year
